IonQ reported record second-quarter 2026 revenue of $80.1 million, up 287% year-on-year and 20% above the midpoint of its prior guidance range, the company said in an August 5, 2026 announcement. IonQ also raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to between $280 million and $290 million, and reported a GAAP net loss of $1,867.7 million for the quarter alongside $3.0 billion in cash, cash equivalents and investments as of June 30, 2026.
Revenue Beat and Raised Guidance
IonQ said the $80.1 million in recognized revenue exceeded the midpoint of its previously issued guidance by 20% and marked the company's fifth consecutive quarter of record results, according to Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi. "Second quarter revenue of $80.1 million again exceeded our guidance, reflecting continued customer demand across our expanding quantum platform," de Masi said in the release.
For the full year, IonQ raised its revenue expectations to a range of $280 million to $290 million. COO and CFO Inder Singh said the update takes the top end of guidance to "a new record level of $290 million" and reiterated confidence in delivering 100% year-on-year organic growth for the full year. The company said this outlook excludes any contribution from its SkyWater acquisition, which closed after the quarter ended.
IonQ also disclosed that remaining performance obligations, a measure of contracted but not yet recognized revenue, grew 297% year-on-year. The company did not disclose a dollar figure for RPO in the release.
Net Loss, Adjusted Results and Cash Position
GAAP net loss for the quarter was $1,867.7 million, with GAAP loss per share of $5.08, IonQ said. On a non-GAAP basis, adjusted EBITDA loss was $120.3 million and adjusted loss per share was $0.33. The company said adjusted EBITDA included costs tied to its commercial relationship with SkyWater during the quarter, and that excluding that spend, the adjusted EBITDA loss would have been $95.6 million.
Cash, cash equivalents and investments stood at $3.0 billion as of June 30, 2026. IonQ said that figure falls to $2.0 billion on a pro forma basis after subtracting the cash consumed in closing the SkyWater acquisition, which the company completed on July 31, 2026, after the quarter's end. IonQ noted that neither its reported second-quarter results nor its updated outlook reflect the addition of SkyWater.
Organic Growth and Business Mix

IonQ attributed the quarter's growth to organic demand rather than acquisitions, saying record quantum computer deployments drove revenue and reinforced its confidence in achieving 100% organic growth for the full year. The company defines organic revenue as a supplemental measure covering revenue from its quantum computing products plus any acquisitions completed before December 31, 2024; on that definition, the SkyWater acquisition, which closed on July 31, 2026, falls outside the organic measure.
International, commercial and multi-product segments comprised approximately 50%, 60% and 25% of the quarter's total revenue, respectively, which IonQ said demonstrates the breadth of its business. The company defines commercial revenue as enterprise agreements with non-U.S.-government customers plus agreements with leading universities.
Singh said the quarter's 287% year-on-year growth was driven by global deployments of IonQ's Tempo quantum computers, strong cloud utilization and broad-based commercial momentum across the company's quantum platform.
Acquisitions and Commercial Developments
Beyond SkyWater, IonQ said it closed an acquisition of Nexus Photonics to expand integrated photonics capabilities aimed at miniaturization and mass manufacturing of quantum systems.
The company also signed memoranda of understanding with Anduril and Sandia National Laboratories to advance quantum technologies for defense and national security applications, including joint proposals for government and commercial bids and quantum co-design work for national security.
In its space-related business, IonQ said it launched a commercial interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) capability through its space-missions line, which it said enables millimeter-scale Earth monitoring, and expanded the number of on-orbit optical communications terminals to a record 84 in support of a U.S. government initiative.
Management Commentary on Technology Roadmap
de Masi said the company made progress toward demonstrating a 256-qubit quantum computer and publishing quantum error correction results on its own hardware. He also said IonQ welcomed recent White House quantum executive orders, which he said reinforce the strategic importance of quantum technologies for the U.S. economy and national security.
IonQ said it would host a conference call at 4:30 p.m. Eastern on August 5, 2026, to discuss the results and provide a business update.
Bottom Line
The reported figures show a company scaling revenue rapidly on what IonQ describes as an organic basis while still posting a $1,867.7 million GAAP net loss and a $120.3 million adjusted EBITDA loss for the quarter. Interpreting those disclosures, the raised full-year guidance of $280 million to $290 million and the 297% year-on-year growth in remaining performance obligations point to expanding contracted demand, though IonQ did not disclose a dollar RPO figure in the release or explain how its new defense and space initiatives will convert into recognized revenue over time. With SkyWater closed on July 31, 2026 but excluded from both reported results and the updated outlook, the effect of that transaction and of the Nexus Photonics acquisition will only appear once consolidated into future reported quarters.
