A lone fisherman sitting patiently on a dock over choppy, turbulent water, rod in hand, calmly waiting while waves churn around him. The scene captures stillness and discipline amid chaos, with stormy skies in the background but a focused, unhurried posture in the foreground. The contrast between the turbulent water and the fisherman's patient composure visually embodies the concept of selective, disciplined trading in a volatile market.

Hey friend,

We got some preliminary consumer sentiment data from the University of Michigan.

It showed consumer sentiment continuing to deteriorate as households grew more pessimistic about current conditions.

Let’s see how the markets have been moving.

The Daily Direction

Market direction table: S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite are upward in the short, medium and long term. Dow Jones and Russell 2000 are downward in the short and medium term and upward in the long term.

Note: Indexes closed slightly lower again yesterday but have been moving higher today – sending the long-term direction for the Russell 2000 back upward.

The Daily Nugget

Choppy markets reward selectivity – not prediction.

When the market gets choppy, traders often spend too much time trying to call the next move.

Is this bounce real?

Is the selloff over?

Are we about to break out again?

That can turn into a lot of guessing without much edge.

You don’t need to predict every turn.

You need to wait for the setups where the odds actually look good.

In a messy market, that usually means being more selective.

Fewer trades.

Cleaner entries.

Stronger confirmation.

And being perfectly comfortable passing on something that looks only “okay.”

The market will give you plenty of movement.

That doesn’t mean every move deserves your money.

When conditions are choppy, the edge often comes from waiting longer and demanding more before you act.
