The Fed announced its interest rate decision yesterday. As I forecasted, it did not raise interest rates. In addition, as I anticipated, Powell stated interest rates will remain “higher (5.50%) for longer”.
Most significantly, Powell removed two possible interest rate increases off the table, which means he expects inflation to continue to slowly fall. In fact, the Fed projects interest rates will be lowered next year.
I think we remain neutral with the market in a trading range until:
(1) The 10-year Treasury yield falls below 4%;
(2) The NASDAQ closes above 14,000; and
(3) Inflation gets below 3%.
Patience and positioning is how to play the current market.
We will go higher; it’s just a matter of time.
The worst is certainly far behind, and comparatively we are in a MUCH BETTER place than we were this time last year!
