AMD reported record third-quarter 2026 revenue of $13.38 billion, beating Wall Street estimates by $290 million, while non-GAAP earnings per share of $2.09 topped expectations by $0.15, according to Seeking Alpha Market News. The results were driven primarily by a near-doubling of Data Center segment sales, and the company guided for further acceleration in the fourth quarter.

Total revenue grew 45% year-over-year to the $13.4 billion record figure, while non-GAAP earnings per share climbed 74%, according to AMD's own third-quarter 2026 financial results release. CEO Lisa Su said the quarter exceeded the high end of the company's own guidance range, crediting the Data Center business for the strength.

Data Center Surge Lifts Results

AMD's Data Center segment generated a record $8.5 billion in revenue, up 97% year-over-year, the company said. AMD attributed the growth to strong demand for its EPYC processors and the launch of its Instinct MI450 Series GPUs during the quarter.

"We delivered a record quarter with revenue exceeding the high end of our guidance as Data Center segment sales nearly doubled year-over-year," Su said in the release. That framing places the Data Center business at the center of the overall beat — an interpretation consistent with the segment's reported 97% year-over-year growth to a record $8.5 billion.

Gaming And Client Segments Diverge

Bar chart comparing AMD's Q3 2026 segment revenue: Data Center $8.5 billion, Client $2.9 billion, Gaming $773 million, Embedded $1.1 billion.

Not every part of AMD's business moved in the same direction. Gaming business revenue fell 40% year-over-year to $773 million, which the company attributed to lower semi-custom and graphics revenue. That decline weighed on the combined Client and Gaming segment, which fell 8% year-over-year to $3.7 billion despite Client revenue alone rising 7% to $2.9 billion on the strength of Ryzen mobile processor sales.

Taken together, the divergence suggests that AMD's console and discrete graphics businesses are facing softer demand even as its PC-focused Ryzen mobile lineup continues to find buyers. That is an interpretation of the reported segment mix rather than a statement AMD made directly, but it is consistent with the specific drivers the company cited for the gaming decline.

AMD's Embedded segment, by contrast, grew 29% year-over-year to $1.1 billion, with the company pointing to growth in aerospace and defense, automotive, communications and industrial end markets as the source of that strength.

Q4 Outlook: Accelerating Growth

For the fourth quarter, AMD guided to non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 55%, and its outlook cites growth of approximately 66% year-over-year and a sequential increase of approximately 27%, according to the company's press release. CFO Jean Hu said the outlook "reflects accelerating revenue and earnings growth, driven by strong demand across our Data Center portfolio."

Helios Systems Deployed With Major Cloud Partners

AMD said Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are running models and workloads on the company's first Helios rack-scale systems, which are powered by Instinct MI450 Series GPUs paired with 6th Gen EPYC CPUs. The company did not disclose revenue tied specifically to these deployments in the release, but the roster of participating customers points to broad early adoption among major AI infrastructure buyers.

Bottom Line

AMD's third-quarter results show a company whose growth is now overwhelmingly concentrated in its Data Center business, which rose 97% year-over-year to a record $8.5 billion and lifted total revenue above the high end of prior guidance, with non-GAAP earnings per share also topping Wall Street estimates. Gaming and semi-custom revenue softened sharply even as Client and Embedded segments posted gains, underscoring a business mix increasingly weighted toward AI and server infrastructure. With fourth-quarter guidance pointing to accelerating revenue and earnings growth, the coming quarter will show whether AMD's Data Center momentum, anchored by its new Helios systems and Instinct MI450 GPUs, can sustain the pace that defined this quarter's beat.
