Market Pulse 360 for April 26, 2023
Owing to near fears of bank failures and the disappointing earnings of UPS yesterday, markets sold off, going below major support levels.
Fear of contagion with First Republic Bank reporting an exodus of 50% of deposits and pulling all forward guidance plus recession with lower forward guidance from UPS with less ecommerce business contributed to driving the market down.
However, two titans reported great earnings: MSFT and GOOG. This allayed some fears with recession and overblown concern of systemic financial crisis. Futures are strong this morning, but the most important factor is the Fed.
The FOMC meeting next Wednesday will decide the next move in the market. Assuming the Fed increases rates only .25% and signals a pause, this will be the catalyst for another big leg up in the market.
